Welcome to Stray2Me Rescue. Our mission is to help save dogs and cats from a life of cruelty and neglect. The majority of our help is directed towards rescuers in Romania, but increasingly we are being asked to help with dogs born in the UK.
What we do:
We raise funds to help support different rescuers in Romania with veterinary care, and to keep their rescued Strays safe until a home can be found for them.
We rehome Romanian dogs and cats to the UK, as well as UK born dogs that are surrendered to us.
Throughout the year, we support our rescuers with as many sterilisation campaigns in Romania as funds allow.
We have a growing number of dogs in Romania in safe sanctuary. They will never travel, for various reasons, and so we are committed to their welfare.
How we work:
The vast majority of our adoptions are via direct adoption. This means the dog or cat will travel directly to you from Romania. You will not have an opportunity to meet them beforehand.
We do have a small number of dogs in foster at any one time, and these are available to meet before adoption.
Our minimum age for adopting is 21. There is no maximum age, but we do ask that any adopter who lives alone, irrespective of age, has the support of family or friends living nearby in case of an emergency.
We will consider each application on a case by case basis, we do not discriminate. However, the vast majority of our dogs need to have direct access to a secure, private garden because many are not lead trained. We also prefer children to be 10+, but we are willing to consider homes with younger children if we can find a suitable match.
Once we have received your application, one of our volunteers will contact you. Please check your email spam and keep an eye out for a text message or voicemail.
Our commitment to you:
We have a small team of dedicated volunteers who will support you throughout the adoption process and continue to offer advice and support once the Stray has been rehomed to you. This is known as RBU (or rescue back up). We will also find a new home for your Stray should the need ever arise.
Donation:
In order to allow us to continue our work of saving cats and dogs, we request a minimum donation of £450 for a dog and £280 for a cat. The donation is used towards the costs incurred with getting the Stray to you – transport, vaccinations, sterilisation, microchip and passport.
What should you do next?
Please look at the individual profiles for the dogs or cats that we have available. You will find a link to the application form with each profile.
Or you can submit a general application for a dog, or a cat and we will help to match you to a Stray. Not all of our Strays are on the website.
Please read the information about Brucella canis before submitting an application.

We look forward to receiving your application. Thank you for wanting to help a Stray.
