How did you decide that adoption was the right way to go for you?

Our adoption process started back in August last year in 2021. My mum runs an organisation called Lucky Tales Dog Rescue Without Borders, a voluntary not for profit dog rescue organisation which rescue dogs from outside the UK borders and rehomes them within the UK. She put us in touch with stray2me and that’s how we found Luna, she helped us with the process of getting Luna over to us on the happy bus, and we actually adopted Luna through Lucky Tales, the process of adoption was very easy, we were advised to foster her for 6 weeks and then we went on and adopted her, and it was the best thing we have ever done, we would not be without her now, we regularly keep stray2me and Lucky Tales updated on her progress and we will continue to do so.

What was it like the first moment you met your rescue?

Luna arrived on 17 September’21 on the ‘Happy Bus’. That is a moment we will never forget and it was the day my son met his ‘best friend’.

How is life for you and your rescue now?

My son is autistic and can find things challenging, such as new things and he likes to stay at home at lot playing his Xbox. However, this changed after we adopted Luna. She has become his best friend and he hardly spends any time on his Xbox now as he likes to play with Luna and cuddle up to her on the sofa. Luna has brought so much happiness to our lives. I have also recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia so she is also like my therapy dog as I spend so much time with her. Luna is the cuddliest little doggy and we call her our ‘red fox’ as she is a truly gorgeous colour. She always likes to be touching someone and I am sure she thinks she’s a human because when we go to cafés etc, she prefers to sit on a chair. I think it is important for prospective adopters to realise that it is such a rewarding experience but it is also something you have to work at.

The vets were very impressed with her documents and vaccinations on her first visit to the our vet in the UK and said that everything was up to date.

‘Stray 2 Me’ will always hold a special place in my heart as they have us such a special doggy. Luna loves her new life with us and we love her to the moon and back.
