MILO – Adopted U.K.

Handsome Milo is an energetic, loving, good nature and very entertaining little man. He is an 8-year-old JRT/Plummer terrier. The foster mum thinks he could possibly be younger, as he seems much younger and his teeth are in good condition despite never being cleaned. He also wasn’t microchipped until five years ago.

Born in the UK, Milo previously lived with various members of the same family, mainly with an older gentleman who sadly died, so he went to live with the daughter who lived in an upstairs flat and worked 12 hour shifts. Whilst Milo is good being left, this obviously was far from ideal.

From his foster mum:
• Typical terrier. Ball obsessed and loves tug toys as well.
• Very loving and will leap on you and crawl up for a snuggle.
• Very busy on walks like most terriers.
• Never been trained to walk to heel, and zigzags in typical terrier fashion.
• Happily takes himself to bed downstairs, but may bark when he feels it’s time to get up—though never before 7:00 to 7:45 a.m
• Mostly ignores my dogs but occasionally tries to play with Kingy, who’s four times his size. I think he’d be better playing with dogs closer to his own size.
• Good with dogs. My lazy hounds find him irritating, and have pops at him regularly, but he never retaliates.
• Been around cats in the past, but I will try to test him myself asap.

• Milo has been around young children in the past. Apparently he would get a bit giddy, but settled after a while. He would take food from children, as manners are not his forte, so maybe no toddlers. Occasionally, he will get humpy with his blanket and growl a little, so they’d need to know to leave him, or just grab a treat and he’ll leave it. He’s doing this less often now, probably as the effects of neutering are kicking in.

• He marked his territory indoors to start with and had a few accidents when he forgets himself, but with the right routine, that shouldn’t persist, especially as time passes since neutering.

• He was worried in the car when we collected him, the lady said he’d never been in one 🙁, but he enjoys it now.

• A week or so after arrival he became itchy, increasingly so. This is new, so he’s possibly slightly allergic to something here. Possibly my dogs, as they shed a great deal. He’s on Apoquel for now, which will be reduced in increments and monitored.

• His vaccinations will be restarted soon.
