Description
In Romania (and many neighbouring slavic countries), a red and white twisted thread is often tied to a trinket and offered by men on the 1st of March to ladies and women. This token is called “mărțișor” (martenitsa). This is not only a symbol of love/respect, but also marks the coming of spring and is often accompanied by a small bouquet of snowdrops.
